Investment Screening

IACalc

Upload. Define your thesis. Defend the verdict.

The Product

IACalc is an intent-aware investment screening engine. It applies evidence-based disqualification logic to PDIEs, CIMs, prospectuses, annual reports, and institutional research — computing verdicts from 53 calculators, 250+ risk signals, 15 intelligence modules, and 12 investment intents.

The critical differentiator: the same company can receive a different verdict depending on the thesis. A leverage profile that kills a yield screen may be expected in a distressed turnaround. Same document. Same extraction. Different computation.

How Intent Changes Everything

Same Data, Different Thesis, Different Verdict

Every investment thesis carries a different set of fears. A yield buyer fears margin erosion and concentration. A growth buyer fears velocity collapse. A distressed buyer fears hidden liabilities. IACalc encodes those fears directly into its analytical architecture.

Stable Yield

Owning for durable cash flow

Primary Fear: Cash flow fragility

FCF conversion, customer concentration, leverage resilience, earnings quality

Growth Platform

Scaling a proven model

Primary Fear: Velocity collapse

Unit economics, retention, operating leverage, growth credibility

Distressed Turnaround

Repairing a broken asset

Primary Fear: Hidden liabilities

Debt burden, liquidity runway, asset coverage, covenant pressure

Strategic IP

Buying capability or moat

Primary Fear: Vaporware risk

IP durability, product relevance, defensibility, revenue concentration

Shariah-Compliant

Screening to SC Malaysia SAC rules

Primary Fear: Non-compliant activity

5% activity, dual 33% financial ratios, prohibited exposures

Acqui-Hire

Buying the team more than the earnings

Primary Fear: Key-person flight

Founder dependency, retention structures, IP assignment, concentration of talent

The intent is not a filter applied after analysis. It recalibrates thresholds, reweights signals, and changes what counts as material risk.

Capabilities

Key Capabilities

Intent-Aware Verdicts
The same document can produce different verdicts depending on the investment thesis. The engine recalibrates fears, thresholds, and materiality based on the mandate rather than forcing every deal through one generic lens.
53 Structured Calculators
Forensic-grade models including Altman, Beneish, Piotroski, DuPont, Sloan, and 48 more — computed from extracted values, not paraphrased from narrative text.
250+ Risk Signals
Signals span financial, operational, concentration, compliance, and governance domains. The point is not a summary. It is a structured screen of what could break the thesis.
15 Intelligence Modules
Counter-narrative, projection credibility, diligence question generation, and other intelligence layers challenge the document against its own numbers and claims.
12 Investment Intents
Stable yield, growth platform, distressed turnaround, strategic IP, acqui-hire, regulatory arbitrage, Shariah-compliant, and other mandates are built in.
Full Traceability
Every extracted value, threshold, and verdict can trace back to source page, table, and cell. The output is built to be audited, not merely read.
Shariah Screening
The engine includes SC Malaysia SAC (Feb 2025) compliant Shariah screening alongside the main investment analysis flow.
Structured Outputs
Each run can produce a DOCX report, interactive web view, JSON manifest, audit companion, and companion deck for committee discussion.

Use Cases

How Institutions Use IACalc

Pre-Investment Screening

Run incoming deal documents through IACalc before committing analyst time. Surface concentration risk, earnings-quality problems, governance gaps, and thesis-breaking issues early.

Portfolio Review

Reassess existing positions against the original mandate. Same document set, same thresholds, same verdict logic — no drift into narrative grading.

Committee Resolution

When two teams disagree because they are using different mandates, IACalc makes the difference explicit: same data, different thesis, different verdict.

DocScreen: The Engine Behind IACalc

IACalc is built on DocScreen — a general-purpose document screening engine that can evaluate any document against any checklist. IACalc is DocScreen with the investment knowledge graph pre-loaded. For organisations with screening needs beyond investment due diligence — lending, procurement, compliance, insurance underwriting, legal review — DocScreen can be configured with custom criteria and thresholds.
